What I Have Learned

from the Tao

First of all, I would like to greet everybody a Good day!

My name is Annie Jay F. Macapili. I Live in Tulungatung Zone 2, Zamboanga

City. I am 18 years old. I started my job in the Temple in April, 2008. I am here

today to share with all of you my experience in teaching Chinese Tutorial Classes

every summer starting from April to May with my sister Abigael. But before that, let

me tell you where I learned all of these and who guided me to do all of these.

First, when they told me that I am going to teach the children, I didn’t know

what to do. I started to think on how I was going to teach them, and where I could

start...etc. There were so many questions in my mind that I would like to know the

answers to all of these questions. Because in my age I am not expecting that teaching

would challenge me and I think also that I am not ready to do these. But when I saw

that the children were interested in learning Chinese, I have the strength to teach

them to learn more. But I always think that it is hard to teach Chinese(Mandarin).

According to those teachers’ saying, being a teacher is really hard and tiresome.

I know that what they say is true but when I’ve already taken the teaching job and

see how much they are interested in learning, I feel happy to teach them. I know that

teaching is not easy and I also know that this is a big responsibility and a challenge

to me. Learning a language is not easy---it takes time. And for the children who are

only 5 years old, to learn Chinese is so diffi cult. But when I saw them trying to un-

derstand, I am so happy because I know that I am the only one who can

teach them.

學修道心得

首先我要祝福大家有個美好的一天！

我的名字是安妮，家住菲律賓三寶顏市多倫阿棟 2 區，今年 18 歲。2008 年 4

月開始進入

堂學習。今天我要跟大家分享：在每年夏天 4 月至 5 月，我和我的妹

妹 Abigael 一起教中文的心得與經驗。但在這之前，要先與各位談談，我過去所學

到的東西以及是誰引導我來學習。

一開始，當

堂中的前賢告訴我，要我教小朋友中文時，我當下完全都沒有想

法。之後才開始思考：我該如何教呢？要從那兒開始教呢？……我腦海中開始浮現

這些問題，我也試著尋求答案。因為依我的年紀，我從未想過接受這種教書的挑戰，

我也認為，自己還沒有做好準備。但是當我看到這群小孩子這麼喜歡學習，我就告

訴我自己：要好好教他們，讓他們能學到更多東西。但是心中仍一直認為：教中文

應該很難。

根據那些本身就是老師的前賢所說，當老師是一件很困難、很辛苦的事。我知

道他們說的是實話，但是當我已經接下這份教學工作，而且看到孩子們學得這麼興

致勃勃，我也覺得很快樂。我告訴自己：即使這是一件不容易的事，但是對我而言，

這是一份責任和挑戰。學習一種語言並不容易，需要花很多時間。尤其對一群年僅

5 歲的孩子們，學中文更是困難。但是，當我看到他們努力學習，讓我感到很欣慰，

我也知道我是唯一可以教他們中文的老師。

When I was 12 to 13 years old, when I was doing the wrong thing, I always

looked down upon myself. Now when I do the work, I always want to make sure

that I am doing the right thing. As I saw the children learn maybe not really good but

still they learn something, I am happy and I can feel that I am doing the right thing.

Because they are learning not just Pilipino but Chinese. And I know that learning

Chinese is diffi cult but they are trying their best to understand every Chinese word.

And you know what is the feeling when you saw the children learning a

different language and it is one of the difficult languages and when I hear some

Pilipino who can talk in Chinese, I am really proud to be a Pilipino. And now I

learn and I realize that in teaching you should have patience. And you should also

understand them even though sometimes they are noisy. I am really happy about

all these. Rica Mae Fernandez and Maica Alih are two of my students who are only

9 years old. These two kids know how to memorize not just Pilipino but Chinese

Mandarin sutras. In the morning when we arrive in the temple they would come to

me or to my sister or to Ayi to ask if they can start to memorize a sutra. These two

girls are usually quiet, and when you talk to them, they just stare at you but they are

really learning, so I am so proud to be their teacher.

And lastly I want to thank Master Lai Mu Huo who is also known as Akong here

in Zamboanga. At first when I saw Master Lai in Tulungatung, I never thought that

he was a Master because he is just a simple person who works with the other workers

to build the 2nd Temple---the Tulungatung Zhi-cheng Temple , the 3rd temple--- the

Cabaluay Zhi-cheng Temple, and the 4rd---the Bolong Zhi-cheng Temple.

Next I want to thank a woman who teach me on how to become a good teacher

and a good person. At fi rst I don’t understand her attitude but when I started to know

her, I realize that she is so understanding, caring and good person. Because of her, I

am here now and because of her, I can share these to all of you. The woman is Ayi

Tsai Chiu Yi who is also known as Ayi and now I can say that I am really proud that

Ayi is my teacher and Akong is my Master. Thank you very much! Because of them,

I learn all of these. And many thanks to my family, especially to my parents who

always support me in everything that I’ve been through. These people have guided

me and told me that I could do all of these.

And I also want to thank them for trusting me in everything that I am doing and

believing me. And I learn all of these when I start going in the temple. Thank you for

sharing my experience! Thank you very much! May God bless us all!!!

當我還是 12 至 13 歲，犯錯的時候，我通常會覺得很丟臉。現在，當我在做

這件事時，我想確認我做得都很正確。當我看到孩子們也許學得並不是那麼好，

但還是學到一些東西，就感到很高興。能影響他們、教導他們，我真的感覺自己

做了一件對的事情。尤其他們所學的不是菲律賓文，而是中文。學中文是很困難

的，但是他們願意盡力去學習、去了解每一個中文字。

大家應該可以體會，當我們看到孩子在學習另一種語言，而且是很難的語言

之一，能看到孩子們可以用中文簡單對談，我真的感到身為菲律賓人的自豪。我

學到也明瞭了教學要很有耐心，也要了解孩子的感受，即便他們有時會很吵。其

中有兩位小朋友名叫 Rica 和 Maica，年紀都才 9 歲，她們會背菲律賓文和中文經

典，當我們早晨來到

堂時，他們就會來找我、我妹妹，或是阿姨，要求是否可

以背誦經典給我們聽。平常她們都是很安靜的小女孩，當別人跟他們說話時，她

們會一直盯著你，但都是在學習。我真的很榮幸可以做他們的老師。

最後，我想要感謝賴木火點傳師，在三寶顏我們都叫他阿公。當我第一次在

多倫阿棟看到阿公時，我不知道他是一位點傳師。因為他就像是一位普通的人，

正跟其他工人一起蓋第二座

接著我要謝謝一位坤道學長，是她教我如何成為一位好老師和一位好人。起

初，我不太了解她的想法，但是等我開始認識她後，就發現她是一位善解人意、

關懷別人的好人。因為有她的教導，我才可以在這裡跟大家分享心得。她的名字

是蔡秋誼，我們都叫她阿姨。我真的很榮幸能遇到蔡阿姨這位好老師，和我的點

傳師賴阿公，謝謝您們！因為他們，讓我學到很多。我也要謝謝我的家人，特別

是我的父母，他們都很支持我所做的一切。感謝所有的人教導我，並且引領我做

上天的事。

我更要感謝他們相信我，信任我所做的每件事情。自從我來

到很多事情及道理。謝謝大家聽我分享學習經驗。感恩慈悲，也祈求上天老
